That is why we stimulate innovation and creativity, for example by offering space to new hubs, platforms and start-ups. We also help companies take advantage of opportunities to work together more because there are plenty of opportunities to join forces. This increases the efficiency and profit of each partner and attracts new investments.
We also invest in a safe framework for all the companies in the port and their employees. The Port Authority’s ambition is to play a coordinating role in port security. As such, it participates in several projects.
- The Port of Antwerp is the first Belgian sea port with a neighbourhood watch (Buurtinformatienetwerk, BIN), in which businesses and security forces work together.
- The International Ship & Port Facility Security code (ISPS) lists requirements and recommendations for preventing intentional unlawful acts, more specifically terrorism. The Port of Antwerp works closely with the specialised crisis centre of the Ministry of the Interior in this framework.
The many requests for the exchange of expertise and working visits by international partners are all evidence of the port’s excellent reputation.
