Collective/Public transport

In addition to the buses and trams of De Lijn and the train, dozens of buses ride back and forth to the many companies in the port every day. This is called “collective transport”. This transport option is sustainable and useful for the employees, and interesting for employers. For hundreds of commuters, it has become a safe and comfortable way of getting to and from work every day.

Collective transport also serves locations where there is no public transport available. The schedules of these shuttle buses are adapted to the business hours of the participating companies. The network can also be expanded at the company’s request.

Almost 10% of the workforce uses the collective transport that is provided by companies or the shuttle bus (a joint initiative of the Antwerp Port Authority and MLSO, with the support of the Government of Flanders). Organising collective transport also has tax benefits for the employer.
